GM Sends Toyota Looking for Easter Bunny Eggs

A GM executive said "About the time the Easter Bunny brings his or her eggs, we will find out who's right and whose credibility took a serious dent."

GM wants to test its Chevrolet Volt plug-in hybrid early next year and launch it in November 2010.

Toyota says the lithium-ion batteries won't be ready for use in the company's Prius hybrid by 2010.

GM's head of global product development says the stage is set for a 'showdown.'

Perhaps, but what I think is interesting is that GM is looking over their shoulder to see what Toyota is doing instead of being the 75-year running market leader that it should be.

What's with the Toyota rhetoric anyway?

My bet is GM is likely to do things sooner, but Toyota will always do them better.
