GM Finds Way to Keep Toyota in Check

GM may have found a way to keep Toyota Motor Corp from becoming the number one car maker.

Toyota Motor Corp says it will continue to suspend production at 12 domestic plants because car engine parts from Riken Corp have been halted due to the earthquake in  Niigata.

Subsidiaries in Hokkaido and Kyushu and chassis maker Toyota Auto Body Co and Kanto Auto Works will also be waiting for Riken.

Toyota has sent 700 employees to Riken togm.toyota.gif

help out.

Toyota usually produces about 17,500 vehicles a day and will see its overall production drop by 43,000 units as a result of the two and half day out suspension…more if the hold up lasts longers.

Meanwhile….GM workers are trying to find out where the earthquake switch is should Toyota get to close to dethroning them this year.
