Can’t sleep? Hungry for a little midnight snack or just want to watch that late-night game of football with the ‘gang’? Well then head on down to the local Mamak Stall*.

Yup, you read it right. Here in Malaysia we love our Mamak stalls and it’s developed into a thriving culture of its own!

Down at the Mamak’s, they don’t just serve you with great food (served quickly) for a cheap price, they let you let your hair down and truly enjoy yourself. No dress codes, no reservations and no haughty waiters- just good food or a drink of ‘teh tarik‘ while you catch up with your friends or watch the game. You can even stay till the break of dawn because some Mamak Stalls are open 24/7.

Everyone patrons the Mamak’s…from the famous corporate lawyer to your local newspaper vendor; and they all enjoy themselves the same.

The Mamak’s is not just a favourite local haunt, for some it’s a second home!

*Mamak stalls have come a long way from being just road side stalls; some have evolved into a more café like establishment. They offer perks like free WIFI access, mist fans and flat screen satellite TV, but they always retain their ‘Mamak’ charm

**The term Mamak refers to Indian Muslims who generally own and operate the establishments.
