Japanese carmakers, Toyota Motor Corp, Suzuki Motor Corp, are ramping up production in India and Russia.

In response…Asahi Glass Co. plans to spend 5 billion yen to construct sheet glass plants to meet expected increased demands for their products.

Asahi Glass, Suzuki local subsidiary Maruti Udyog Ltd. and others, will build an automotive glass plant on Delhi's outskirts that will come online in September.

Production will meet the demands of 400,000 vehicles a year for Suzuki and Honda Motor Corp.

Asahi Glass will also start construction of a plant this year in St. Petersburg, Russia to fit locally made glass with rubber and other materials.

Toyota will be the main customer. Suzuki and Nissan are also expected to want some of the 1.5

million glass sheets that Asahi supplies.

Asahi has followed Japanese automakers all over the world…to the tune of 20 plants in 14 countries.

The company will build its second facility in China to double its output capacity to meet the demands of 2.2 million vehicles.

When Japan's car business is humming….lots of people are happy, eh?
