A Bicycle Seat to Help You Walk by Honda
That seat I am wearing is not for sitting, it’s for walking is what Honda wants people to say.
Honda has a bicycle seat looking contraption that is connected by mechanical frames to a pair of shoes. It’s purpose – a new wearable assisted-walking gadget.
The device is designed to:
1. support bodyweight,
2. reduce stress on the knees
3. help people get up steps
4. stay in crouching positions.
Honda designed the device for use by workers at auto or other factories.
The machine is also useful for people standing in long lines and.or for people who run around to make deliveries.
How to use it -
1. you put the seat between your legs
2. put on the shoes
3. push the on button.
4. Then just start walking around.
Honda Motor Co says the system has a computer, motor, gears, battery and sensors embedded in it to respond to a person’s movements.
Japan’s No. 2 automaker will begin testing a prototype with its assembly line workers later this month for feedback. the price is not yet determined.
Meanwhile Japanese rival Toyota Motor Corp has already shown a Segway-like ride meant for old people.
_Japanese robot company Cyberdyne is renting out in Japan a belted device called HAL, for “hybrid assistive limb,” that reads brain signals to help people move about with mechanical leg braces that strap to the legs.”
