4 Ways Toyota, Mitsubishi, Honda, Suzuki Face Global Realignment
America carmakers are not the only ones facing global realignment.
1. Last year, Isuzu had to dissolve its captial alliance with General Motors. It eventually formed an equity partnership with Toyota Motor Corp.
2. Mitsubishi had its capital support cut by DaimlerChrysler in 2005 and is now restructuring with help from the Mistsubishi group firms. France's Peugeot Citroen is being supplied some models now by Mitsubishi.
3. General Motors has cut back big time its stake in Suzuki Motor Corp. and Suzuki Motors is now looking for new buddies.![]()
4. Midsize automakers are losing their shirts to Honda and Toyota's green technology and are desperate for partnerships.
When American carmakers reshuffle, restructure, dig into the trillions it has made thus far, other carmakers worldwide are affected, and in this case Japan.
Japanese automakers, however, can get along just fine without their American counterparts, but it's not necessarily true the other way around.
