Veterans Day 2009

Veterans Day, a day that honors military veterans, is celebrated today. It is actually observed on the 11th hour, on the 11th day of the 11th month which commemorates when World War I formally ended.

New York City will will organize its annual Veterans Day Parade today as well as celebrate its 90th anniversary. The opening ceremony for the parade starts at 10am at the Eternal Light Monument in Madison Square Park. The United War Veterans Council hosts the NYC Parade which also happens to be the largest of such parades in the USA.

On Veterans Day, people remember persons serving in the military or who have fought in of the wars we learn about in history books.
