The 59th Miss World pageant 2009, is all set to be held on the December 12, 2009, at the Sandton Convention Center, Johannesburg, South Africa.

The pageant is scheduled to commence when the contestants are expected to arrive London, England – from November 7, 2009.

The current Miss World – Ksenia Sukhinova of Russia – will crown the new Miss world and her eventual successor at the end of this event.

Approximately 120 contestants are likely to attend the event and according to the reports, Armenia will be competing at Miss World for the first time ever at this year’s pageant.

Unfortunately, Cayman Islands will not be participating in the pageant this year due to lack of financial support and sponsorship for their national pageant.

In another case, St. Kitts & Nevis’ Miss World contestant – Venetta Zakers – will also not participate in Miss World 2009 as a result of communication issues between her and the national pageant organization.

Form Asia, India’s Pooja Chopra, Japan’s Eruza Sasak, China’s Sandy Lau, Sri Lanka’s Gamya Wijayadasa, Singapore’s Ris Low, Phillipines’ Marie-Ann Umali and Indonesia’s Karenina Sunny Halim are all vieing for the Miss World title in the hopes of getting the crown back to Asia.
