Sergeant Kimberly Munley , a civilian police officer who shot the gunman Major Nidal Malik Hasan responsible for the Fort Hood killings was today appreciated for her act of bravery.
Lieutenant General Bob Cone praised her for ending the shooting horror that killed 13 people at the Texas army base. Reports say that Munley shot the gunman four times even though she was wounded herself.
Munley stood a few feet away from army psychiatrist Major Nidal Malik Hasan when she shot at him Even though she is wounded; Munley is in a stable condition at a local hospital.
The shootings may have continued and killed more people had it not been for Kimberly
