Karla Carillo will be representing Mexico at the 58th Miss Universe Pageant – 2009.

Karla Carillo hopes to have the title passed on to her from last year’s winner, Dayana Mendoza, of Venezuela.

Karla will be just 21 years young when the pageant takes place.

Karla is 5′9.5″ (176cm) tall and has green eyes and light brown hair.

Karla will represent her native state of Jalisco.

She took first place among 32 other contestants to earn the right to represent Mexico at the Miss Universe 2009 pageant. She is the first Jaliscan to win the national title since Jacqueline Bracamontes in 2000.

It is estimated that the Miss Universe Pageant brings in more than $1 billion in free advertising for the country that hosts the girls. There is TV exposure as well as some 15, 000 tourists who follow the pageant around each year.

The catch – a government needs to pony up some $20 million or so to the Donald to get the rights to host the beauties.

If I only had $20 million and my own country.
