Sega Toys Launches Voice-Navigated Toy Helicopter – Targets Middle-Aged Men

Pretty soon those guys in the mall shooting those little helicopters up in the air will be saying “watch this!”
“Rise.”
“Spin.”
“Land.”
Sega Toys is going to start selling a voice navigated, radio-controlled toy helicopter. Sega Toys is part of Taiyo Co.
For the actual commands the radio control unit will have a small microphone for transmitting voice commands. To start the motor users will say “engine start.”
The “up” command will cause the helicopter to speed up the motor and increase altitude.
The “down” command will ….do you need to ask?
Saying “hold” will keep the helicopter at its current height.
“Stop” command will kill the motor…preferably not in mid flight.
Imagine your little sister bugging you and yelling “Stop it!” mid flight.
The toy helicopter is about 7″ long (18cm). The radio control has a range of roughly (33′) 10 meters. The cost Y6,000 ($65).
The target market mainly middle-aged and older men. (abt 100,000 units).
Different language versions are coming to the U.S., Europe and other countries in Asia.
Sega also plans voice-navigated radio-controlled battle tanks and other vehicles.
