How Do You Say ‘Merry Christmas’ in Japanese?

Despite the fact that Japanese do not ‘get’ Christmas in many regards-

the Japanese do say Merry Christmas to one another, in between Christmas cake and KFC.

The Japanese version of Merry Christmas sounds much like the English version-

Meri- Kurisumasu - メリークリスマス

The ‘r’ in Japanese sound like the combination of a ‘d’ and ‘l’ as in red light. Pretend you are going to say a ‘d’ and say ‘l’ instead.

me as in met, lee, ku (coo - like the baby sound) lee sue mah sue

me-lee-coo-lee-sue-mah-sue - no intonation and the first lee is a hair longer than the second if you can do it.

But, don’t say the sue part too hard, you’ll sound stupid.

Anyway, Merry Christmas from RSON.
