I didn’t know Michael Chiklis from Adam until this morning when I saw his name in the news. However, he does have a Japanese connection.

Michael Chiklis is a 2nd generation Greek American who know doubt broke his hair/beauty salon running father’s heart by shaving his head and greasepainting his face for a role in You Can’t Take it With You.

He learned that he couldn’t take his hair with him on his career because he ended up killing the hair follicles on his head. (Hmm…a good way for me to get out of getting haircuts from here on out, maybe.”

Chiklis’s break came when he was cast as John Belushi in the 1989 biopic Wired.

Chiklis also guest starred in Miami Vice, L.A. Law, Murphy Brown and Seinfeld.

But, what about that Japanese connection?

Chiklis had the voice role of Chihiro’s father, Akio in the English version of Hayao Miyazaki’s Spirited Away.
