Surprised?

I’m not.

There’s a say in Japan – If America sneezes, Japan will catch a cold.

America loves fads. Japan is right there.

The Morning Banana Diet is what it’s called.

Japanese are as health conscience as they come…or should I say appearance conscience.

Japanese will do anything to put on a good appearance, slim down to look good, even if it’s bananas.

Some actress said she lost 10 kilos doing the banana thing, Japanese women are jumping on board. My bet is that before long, Americans will jump on the banana diet, too.

“If that’s how Japanese can stay slim and pretty we should do it.”

Fads….they flip flop back and forth across the big pond. It’s Japan’s turn now.

It’s too bad that bananas are going to go extinct in 20 or so years :(

Then again, no way this fad will last that long. I was talking to a friend in Hokkaido, and she said that it’s impossible to find bananas anywhere, because of this fad. Better than the drinking vinegar one, anyways :)

I’m not surprised either. Bananas help people lose weight because they contain resistant starch, which ferments in your large intestine, creating by-products that block conversion of some carbohydrates into fuel, so replacing ordinary carbs with the resistant starch in bananas can boost fat burning. And banana fiber bulks up in your stomach, so you feel full for longer. There’s a healthy way to do the banana diet which makes sense and includes exercise http://www.dolenutrition.com/bananadiet/bananadiet.htm
