Covering the economic and industrial might of Japan

To the untrained gaijin ear - 'an' and 'un' can sound almost the same in Japanese.

Friends, or at least I thought they were friends until they offered to feed me, invited me over for a snack.

Yea! I like snacks. Or, so I thought.

"Bill, would you like some anko?"

"Huh?"

" Anko."

Now, I am not a swearing man, but I could have sworn they said "Unko."

I thought to myself, "You want me to eat unko."

And, then they brought me some.

I was never so sure that I did NOT want to eat something in my life and headed for the door.

The strange things that get eaten in Japan, I thought.
