China Takes On Japan, US, Australia, India, Wins
China has taken on Japan, the United States, Australia and India and won.
The four countries had worked together under the initiative of then Prime Minister Abe of Japan to form a strategic dialogue to deepen ties between the democratic nations in the region and prepare for China's emergence, especially China's military.
Singapore even joined in and there was a joint naval training exercise in the Bay Of Bengal.
Things are different now.
Abe is gone and Japan's new PM Fukuda champions talks with China.
Australia's Mandarin-speaking PM Rudd has vowed to improve ties with China and not provoke the new global powerhouse.
The United States just wants to play naval games.
Japan's Fukuda could not back down because it was Japan's idea in the beginning. When Australia's Rudd said they were out, Japan found an out as well.
India is hoping for improved bilateral talks with anybody, including Japan.
China, meanwhile, has defeated this 'strategic alliance.'
