#28 The Japan-related Web. Part 3: Why it Matters
A quick question for all of you:
What is the best known free Japanese/English dictionary online?
Jim Breen's of course!
But how did it get there? I'm not an expert on the project but from research I know that over 150 people from around the globe are acknowledged as having made contributions. On top of that, people have leveraged the project to build Japanese language tools (like Rikai.com) and these tools have boosted traffic to their sites.
So even if your ambitions are of a "selfish" nature, and you want to grow your traffic, you should start projects and make tools for all of us! Be selfish, collaborate.
Speaking of Jim Breen, I emailed him and asked if he had advice for us on collaborative projects. We'll look at what he had to say in the next post.
