
Clarion Co. will release new car navigation systems this year that will be priced more than 30% lower than its current models.

With the cheaper unit, the automotive audiovisual equipment maker hopes to sell 1 million units by fiscal 2010, up 25% from sales projection for this fiscal year ending in March.
The new navigation systems will be equipped with high-volume flash memory chips for recording maps and other information, no hard-disc drives.
The cost will be around Y100,000. ($900). Remember, that's the cheap version.![]()
The new systems will be portable, and will play music and perform other simple tasks such as call home and tell whoever's making dinner what time to expect you.
The unites will be marketed in Japan, the U.S. and Europe and whereever navigation system sales are expected to grow.
