
腕捲くりする[うでまくりする, ude-makuri suru] roll up one’s sleeves
Good luck finding someone in Japan willing to mess with their appearance long enough to roll up their sleeves before they work.
The Japanese normally pride themselves in their appearance....to a fault perhaps.
They will keep their coat and ties on in blistering heat when a westerner they are working with has already long dispensed with their coat and tie.
As for me, when I was in Japan, I did this all the time.
