
Toyota Motor Corp. is projecting global production of almost 10 million vehicles next year.
The goal is expected to be high enough to outpace U.S. rival General Motors Corp. and become the world's biggest automaker.
Toyota plans to output in 2008 9.95 million vehicles worldwide. Previous estimates were 9.90 million.
Booming sales in China, the Middle East and other emerging economies are the reason behind the increased projections.
In November Toyota said its worldwide production totaled 7.05 million vehi
cles for the first nine months of this year.
GM sold 7.06 million vehicles during the same period.
Toyota may surpass GM this year.Toyota is expecting to sell 9.42 million units this year. GM is projecting 9.26 million.
Toyota faced an earthquake to knock their goals off track, but GM had to deal with auto union.
It's just a matter of time before Toyota becomes number one.
