Japanese keglers are relying on a sexy 17-year old schoolgirl to help revive the industry.
Bowling alleys once numbered 3,697 alleys in the 1970s. The number dipped to just 600 but has rebounded to about 1,100.
Last year, Japan's bowling population was about 25.1 million, one in five Japanese.
The number was once 37.5 million in 1998, one almost three.
The industry is relying on Rina Asada, a schoolgirl, part-time pinup girl to help get things rolling again.
Rina, an amateur, won the national high school championships and also competes against pros in the P-League bowling.
