
A certified auditor who has worked for 23 years at New United Motor Manufacturing Inc., (NUMMI), a joint venture of rivals Toyota and General Motors, says management routinely deleted or downgraded defects from her reports on vehicles since 2005.
The whistleblower is accusing her managers of allowing serious defects to go unchecked.
The lawsuit was filed November 6th in Alameda County Court, right down the street from me.
Toyota Japan says, "tackling quality problems as a top priority."
The GM spokesman in Japan said, "Huh? What lawsuit?"
NUMMI, set up in 1984, produces the Corolla subcompact, Tacoma pickup and Pontiac Vibe wagon.![]()
The factory was set up so American workers could learn Toyota's production methods.
Consumer Reports says Toyota is 'showing cracks in its armor' of quality control.
Is this another crack?
