A top exec at Nintendo Co. says its Wii consoles sales are off to a great start for the holiday sales season.
On one less day last week (stores were closed for Thanksgiving) the company sold 350,000 Wii consoles, 50,000 more than the previous week.
But...then there was Black Friday.
The company plans to sell 17.5 million units by March of next year - the end of the fiscal year.
Production has been ramped up from 1.2 million units a month to 1.8 million units
and NO more. The production cap has been reached.
There is no shortage just to generate buzz says the company.
Because of the Wii, Nintendo has doubled its sales from a year earlier to $6.1 billion in the quarter ending in September. That was BEFORE the Wii was launched.
And now, Christmas is coming.
Is there a Wii on your shopping list?
