Digital Camera, Battery Sales Swing Sanyo Back to Profit
Sanyo's digital camera and battery sales have lifted the electronics company back to profitability.
Earlier this year, Sanyo admitted to falsifying fiscal 2003 earnings.
And, usually Japanese companies take a serious hit when there is a scandal.
Still, in the first six months of this year the company sold enough digital cameras and rechargeable batteries to make a profit of $149 million.
Last year, during the same period, Osaka-based Sanyo lost more than $33 million.
The company expects to make $186 for the fiscal year ending in March 2008.
Seems the reshuffling of top management, reducing jobs and shutting down
unprofitable business has paid off.
