Maruchan Instant Noodles Get First Price Hike in 17 Years
Maruchan's regular size Akai Kitsune instant noodles have been sold for 155 yen for 17 years.
The price of a packaged instant ramen - 90 yen…also 17 years.
That's a long time without increasing prices, no?
But, then during that time, Japan experienced a dozen or more years of deflating prices and, well, the price of the noodles did NOT go down.
Still, Toyo Suisan Kaisha Ltd says that from the beginning of next year all of its noodle products will cost 10% more...higher costs of flour, palm oil and other
Fresh noodles will go up in price and serving sizes down as well.
Japan's other instant noodle makers have already announced price revisions.
