Hitachi Pulls Out of Household PC Business
Hitachi Ltd. stopped making PCs for individual customers after this summer's models came out.
Japanese companies more and more are refocusing their businesses, un-diversifying themselves to remain competitive.
Hitach does:
1. nuclear power
2. flat-panel TVs
3. washing machines
4. hard disk drives…
It's PC business accounted for less than 1% of annual sales and isn't likely to be missed.
Dell, HP and Lenovo have taken the PC market and Japanese are having a hard time competing.
Sony and Toshiba are combining their resources to see if something can't be done.
Do you think Japan can no longer make PCs to compete with the Top 3?
