Bridgestone Creates World’s Thinnest Bendable Full-Color E-Paper
Bridgestone Corp (yup, the tire makers) has developed the world's thinnest, bendable full-color e-paper.
It's just 0.29mm thick.
The screen measures 8' and can display 4.096 colors.
It also bends without breaking and can save electricity by holding images even after the power supply has been cut off.
Among other things, the e-paper can be used for advertisements in stores.
Bridgestone also announced that it has the largest full-color e-paper (A3 - about 17×11) which is equivalent to a 21.4" screen.
The product can be used to display information in corporation
s and factories…
Or about a portable monitor than can be rolled up and carried in your briefcase.
Now THAT would be cool.
The e-paper will be commercialized in the second half of next year.
Once massed produced, the e-paper will cost less than LCDs says Bridgestone.
What uses can you think of for a bendable full-color paper?

I remember seeing something like this in a combini before (although I don’t think it was this thin). I think it was an AMPM. They were using it on the outside window as a display screen for ads.
Is bridgestone Japanese?
