Anti-Groping Appli - Only in Japan

by BBelew57 on October 24th, 2007

Women in Japan are flashing on trains and the gropers are running from them.

They are flashing their cell phones, that is.

"Did you just grope me?!"

"Ant-Groping Appli"  is what it is called and it ranks #7 among Japan's top-10 cell phone applications for the week.

The application was released two years ago but it is just now growing in popularity.

Does that mean groping is/was growing in popularity, too?

The cell phone flashes -

"Excuse me, did you just grope me?"

"Groping is a crime,"

and finally,

"Shall we head to the police?"

By pressing an "Anger" icon on the phone, the threats get progressively stronger.

An Anger icon on a cell phone?

That would be the Japanese, not normally inclined to show emotion, even anger in public.

The application can be downloaded for free on Web-enabled phones.

Tokyo's Met Police says that 1,853 people in Japan were arrested for groping passengers on trains in 2005….5 eachday.

And it is likely that it is much worse, but women are still too embarrassed to cry out…but their cell phones aren't.

Have you ever been groped?
