United Auto Workers have walked out on General Motors.
I think I saw it coming when I wrote UAW Rejects Retiree Health Care Trust Proposal.
But, I don't claim to be a prophet.
Toyota production was interrupted earlier this year when an earthquake hit Niigata and stopped production of piston rings at Riken.
GM production has been stopped by something worse than an earthquake...a
United Auto Workers (UAW) walkout...the first nationwide strike against the U.S. auto industry in more than 30 years.UAW president said, "It was going to be General Motors' way at the expense of the workers. The company walked right up to the deadline like they really didn't care."
Yeah...I am sure that GM doesn't care that they will fall behind Toyota, or anybody for that matter for the first time in 70 some years.
I am sure that GM doesn't care how many millions of dollars they will lose each day...100's of millions?
Workers are picketing, 73,000 of them working at 82 GM facilities, assembly and parts plants and warehouses.
Meanwhile...Toyota marches on to the top, ensured now of becoming the top car producer for the first time ever, dethroning GM.
Earthquake or UAW? Which would you prefer to deal with?
I'll take the earthquake.
We drive two Hondas and a Toyota....what do you drive?
