
Suzuki Motor Corp has a low-priced subcompact that it makes in India.
In an effort to tap into growing demand for its car in emerging markets, Suzuki will export the car to Russia from its manufacturing base in India.
Now that's a global business idea!
Russia's new vehicle sales rose 20% in 2006. By 2011, Russia will be second only to Germany in new car sales.
Suzuki sent 16,000 cars to Russia last year, up 60%, from Japan and Hungary.![]()
A new factory for the Grand Vitara will be launched in 2009 in St. Petersburg.
Suzuki holds about 50% of the passenger car market in India...mostly its subcompact 1-liter car priced at about $7,100.
Luxury cars sell well in Russia...but more and more the little people want a car, too.

I used to own a GEO Tracker that was all Suzuki with a GEO name on it. I loved that little baby truck and wish I still had it.
