Softbank Will Host Mobile Phone Film Festival
Softbank Corp and the Tokyo University of Fine Arts & Music will host a film festival in early December.
The Pocket Film Festival was started in Paris in 2005. It will be the first time such a festival is hosted in Japan.
Works will be solicited from the general public.
Winning entries will be posted on computer and mobile Web sites.
Softbank wants more subscribers so the company is popularizing new applications.
The university aims to explore new possibilites of expression in the audiovisual
arts.
The festival will be held in Yokohama from Dec7-9th.
1. Screening and reviews of pocket films
2. presentations of works by Japanese, French and other filmmakers
3. symposiums
Entries are accepted Sept 21-Nov. 5th.
Grand prize - 500,000($4,500 ish)
Why would anybody want to watch a movie on their cell phone?
