Matsuya Drops Chinese Pork in Favor of Danish Meat
Mastsuya is a restaurant chain with some 730 locations throughout Japan.
Until September 1st, the pork on rice bowl was Chinese pork.
In the face of a lack of consumer confidence in food imports from China and a general dissatisfaction in the flavor of pork from China, on September 1st, 350 Matsuya restaurants switched to pork from Denmark. By the end of this week, the other 380 restaurants are expected to do the same.
When I was in Japan, I NEVER asked, "Where'd this pork come from?"
Call me naive, I suppose.
At any rate…the Danes are happy…except for maybe their porkers.
Can you tell the difference in the quality of meat?
I guess my tongue is just plain stupid about such things.
