
New houses being built in Japan was up 0.8% this year to 494,404 units.
That's a big deal, considering Japan has NO more places to build houses.
The Bank of Japan hinted at higher interest rates which led to consumers building or buying new houses before the rates went up.
apan's top four home builders lost market share; the fifth went unchanged.

Alll things considered....I owned a Daiwa house when I was there...and we loved it....especially in snow country where we lived.
When everyone else was shoveling snow from the roof to keep their houses from caving in...we were good for up to five meters.
