The number of Japanese over 80-years old has topped 7 million for the first time.
More than one in twenty Japanese are octogenarians ... a total of 7.13 million says the Ministry of Internal Affairs and Communications ahead of Monday's Respect-for-Senior-Citizens Day holida.
The number of people over 65 is 27.44 million - more than one in five Japanese
(21.5%).18.8% of all males in Japan are over 65 and 24.1% of all women are over 65.
At 80, there are twice as many women over 80 as they are men.
Japan has more than 5 million workers over aged 65.

The 65-year olds - 10.68 million travelled in Japan and 1.53 million took off overseas...almost one in two.
Lots of time, lots of money, lots of life left over...sounds like the 65-year olds in Japan are a good market to target.
