Toyota, Nissan, Honda, Mazda, Suzuki are Down. Mistubishi is Up

by BBelew57 on August 28th, 2007

This is a switch.

Toyota Motor Corp., Nissan Motor Co., Honda Motor Corp., Mazda Motor Corp., and Suzuki Motor Co. all saw sales drop.

Mitsubishi Motors Corp was the only one to have an increase in production.

All of Japan's car companies were affected by a shortage of engine parts from Riken Corp which had to shut down due to the earthquake.

Toyota turned out 60,000 fewer vehicles.

Nissan was down 12,000.

Honda produced 14,400 fewer vehicles and Mazda was down 4,500.

Suzuki rolled out 18,000 fewer vehicles.sales.targets.cars.jpg

Only Mitsubishi, also affected by the shutdown of Riken, was able to keep up with its production targets.

Meanwhile…GM, Ford and DaimlerChrysler are hoping for less extreme ways for the Japanese car companies to be prevented from hitting sales targets.
