Sony Corp has a plan to boost lagging sales of its PS3 and PS Portable in Europe.
The company will sell a device that will allow residents of the Old Country to record TV programs on their PS3 and then transfer them to their PS Portable.
Oh, boy! Boob tube programs can be watched
anywhere anytime now.The new product is called PlayTV.
PS3 and PSP do not have enough attractive games but they will have another avenue for use.
The PS3 has sold 4.3 million units worldwide compared to Nintendo's Wii which has sold twice as many and Microsoft's Xbox 360 which has sold 11.6 million units with a year's head start.
Nintendo's DS portable is also selling twice as much as Sony's PSP.
I may be wrong, but I don't think users/players have bought the PS3 and PSP to watch TV.
Sony tried to sell the idea of watching movies on its PSPs and that didn't catch on.
Sony didn't say how much PlayTV will cost...which usually means it will cost too much.
What Sony really needs are some more very sophisticated games.
What do you think?
