Sharp Corp. introduced a 29 millimeter thick, or is it thin, prototype TV billing it as the lightest, thinnest, lowest energy-consuming LCD in the world.
The TV, with tuner, display and such weighs just 55lb (25kg) and uses only half the energy of current LCD panel TVs...and about one quarter of the energy of plasma display panel TVs.
The panels could be hung on walls or from ceilings.
Mass production of this display is not expected for another three years or so, but Sharp hopes that parts of the technology will be introduced
gradually in Sharp's upcoming products. But, can it bend and be rolled up and put in your pocket?
I don't think so.
I am still waiting for someone to come up with a foldable keyboard with a slot for a rolled up display. Unroll the display and unfold the keyboard and voila! a PC.
Now, that would be cool, no?
