McDonald's vs Starbucks in Japan

McDonald's is taking on Starbucks in Japan.

Today, Ronald McDonald opened up 15 "McCafes" in Japan's crazy kissaten coffeehouse market.

McCafes will offer gourmet beverages and food menu with "super convenience."

I think that's an oxymoron, but what do I know.

New and repeat customers are the target market.mccafe.starbucks.jpg

Starbucks opened its first outlet in Japan in 1996. There are now more than 700 outlets and a breakfast menu is on the way.

Starbucks? McCafe? Both sound like losers to me.

I'll have an ulong tea, please.
