Juanita Bynum - Bishop Thomas Weeks III Give Christians in Japan a Bad Feeling?

by BBelew57 on August 25th, 2007

There are four posts that are being read pretty heavily about Juanita Bynum - Thomas Weeks III.

They are

Juanita Bynum - Thomas Weeks III - Christians? Which Bible Are They Reading?,

Juanita Bynum Decides to file charges against husband Thomas Weeks III

and

Juanita Bynum - Thomas Weeks III Make Christian Missionaries in Asia Cringe.

I thought I'd put my two cents in on these ongoings and

how they might relate to Japan.Juanita%20Bynum%20pic-thumb.jpg

When I lived in Japan, we offered Bible classes at all the language schools that we started. The teachers we hired were Christians and among other things we hoped for the chance to share our faith.

Unlike other religious groups in Japan who offered to teach English under pretenses of sharing their beliefs, we did are darndest to teach English well, to give the Japanese what they paid for and more AND, offer as an elective the chance to study the Bible with us, if they liked. No pressure…no subtleties.

English now….Bible then.Thomas%20Weeks%20pic-thumb.jpg

It was hard, because Japanese just aren't interested.

Though missionaries might cringe in other parts of the world…they aren't likely batting an eye in Japan over the Juanita Bynum and Thomas Weeks III affair….I think. I may be wrong.  Perhaps the news about these two just isn't news at all in Japan.

The most difficult lesson I ever had to teach about the Christian life was when I had a group of Japanese students with me in a small town outside of Columbus, OH, in the heart of the Bible belt.

On three of four corners in this small town of 2,000 people were three different churches.

One of my students asked - "Sensei. Why are there so many churches so close together in such a small place?"

I can answer that question but it is beyond the scope of this post.

In light of the Thomas Bynum Affair…a more pressing and perhaps equally difficult question today might be "Sensei, why do Christians act this way?"

Yeah…why do they act this way?

And, so that everyone can see them do it.

you must be a real immature Christian. what are christians in Japan doing to advance the kingdom. don’t worry about what a black man in the US is doing. Look at your own organizations in japan which are racist, insulated, and semi-cultish.

I dont think that Bishop is a bad person every one has a past and a present. Who said he was not at fault. Many are pointing the finger at the Bishop and Making Dr. Bynum look like she is a woderful person like she has never done wrong. I not judging but there are some things that need to remain in the home. My thing for women is that many feel that the judge will have mercy on them because you are a women. So lets put God in here at this moment how will God judge you when you get to heaven since you so badly have to but your husband or spouse to shame and make them look like somone ther arent. God rain’s on the just as well as the unjust. She has not always been powerful, but it took here a moment to get to the place where she is now. My point also here is if she is so anoited and so full of the spirit how come she did not see this. Many are they who stand at the alter and say God ordained the marriage and its just a mere of lie. Some thigs God did not put together. Put we as people of the flesh do. Also many she that she was told not to marry this man but she did. Hmmmmmmmmmm how anointed are your when you can not see.

Bro Thomas Weeks, I am a former member of a pentecostal organization and I understand how the Bishop positions are handed down through the family blood lines.(P.A.W.) You have much shame and disgust to the your family name. Do not add insult to injury. Don’t blame no one but yourself. You need serious help! Alcoholics don’t beat their wives that bad. There is no justification to this incident. In my assessment I feel that you are the typical Pentecostal minister called by your grand-daddy,ordain by your dad and chosen by organization tradition and now you look like a stupid spoiled pentecostal brat. This really disgust me and I don’t want to never see you on television again. Pack your bags and move back to Delaware.

To the Church and unchurched, wake up!!!!!!! Why are you blaming Juanita for her husband’s behavior. There’s not a woman out there who enjoys her husband or boyfriend beating them. Wake up Bishop Weeks and stop blaming the devil for the rage that’s deeply imbeded in your spirit. Only Flip Wilson was allowed to say “the devil made me do it”. God has a way to uncover the ulgy things that we try to cover-up. There is so much spousal abuse in the church and the church world does not want to deal with this. For those of you who have Mothers and or Sisters, how would you feel if this happened to them. Church people can have all kinds of titles, but it doesn’t mean that they are all delivered. Bishop does not need to be in the pulpit, he should deal with himself before God does. I think that he has done this before, this is not his first time. Someone out there has experienced this type of behavior from him before. For those of you who like to quote scriptures, remember that God has called us to live in peace and not in any type of abuse. Church folks stop thinking like the world.
