Hot Pink Hello Kitty Armbands for Poor Performing Thai Police
Hello Kitty is NOT going to like this.
When a Thai policeman messes up, breaks a rule, s/he will be forced to wear a hot pink Hello Kitty armband - the Japanese icon of shame - as mark of shame.
Officer - You were going to fast.
Driver - Uh, why do you have that hot pink Hello Kitty armband on?![]()
Officer - I was late for work and got pulled over for speeding.
Driver - And you are giving me a ticket because of why?
The chief of Crime Supression Division, and this IS his real name - Pongpat, says that making the officers feel guilt and shame
will be more effective than just warning them.
But, what about if they like Hello Kitty?
Little girl - Daddy? Can you break a rule for me today and bring home a Hello Kitty armband?
Officer - Sure, sweety. I think I'll call Pongpat a dingbat. That'll do it.
Sanrio's Hello Kitty on their arms is expected to prevent the macho police from more serious offenses - abuse of power and mistreatment of the public.
I am sure that the public will find great confidence in the guy with a gun in one hand and a Hot Pink Hello Kitty smile around the bend at his elbow.
How do you think police should be disciplined?
