Bridgestone Follows Toyota’s Lead in India, Indonesia
Toyota is Ready to Expand in Indonesia.
Bridgestone Corp is, too.
The world's largest maker of tires and industrial rubber products by sales intends to spend $120 million to ramp up its production by 50% in Indonesia.
About $50 million will be spent to raise production in India.
Bridgestone's main export destination now is the U.S. with daily production capacity of 8,400 units. By 2010, the daily capacity
will be more than three times and Indonesia will be the export base.
Additionally, Bridgestone has its sights on Mexico, Poland and Hungary with new plants opening in 2007-2009.
And, where will those tires go? On Toyotas and Hondas everywhere.
Zoom…zoom…zoom.
