Sales Climb at McDonald’s, Yoshinoya

by BBelew57 on July 24th, 2007

Restaurant sales are growing in Japan, along with waistlines.

McDonald's Co and Yoshinoya D & C are two fast-food restaurants that are part of six straight months of sales growth for Japanese restaurants.

Skylark Co. and the Gusto chain also saw growth.

Revenue per customer is down by 1.6% but the number of customers are up by 3.9%.

More people are going but they aren't eating as much.yoshinoya.jpg

Still, how much fast food does it take to cause a waistline to grow?

A trend towards more economical menus is credited with the increase in attraction of fast-food restaurants which

had 6.5% increase in sales overall during the first half….more than the 2% growth recorded at Japanese coffee houses.

With all that good food in Japan, why would anyone want to go to a fast-food joint is beyond me.

What's your favorite Japanese food?
