Japan Business Federation Backs Abe’s Reforms
Prime Minister Abe may be on his way out after the resounding defeat in this past elections of his Liberal Democratic Party.
However, the Japan Business Federation (Nippon Keidaren) doesn't want the new ruling parties to throw out the baby with the bathwater.
The Keidaren thinks ''Mr. Abe's Cabinet steadily implemented reform measures aimed at promoting economic growth and positive effects have started to be seen." And, a replacement will slow down those reforms.![]()
Keidaren Chairman, Mitarai who is also the chairman of Canon Inc. says that the vote reflected people's anger with the LDP's loss of pension records and other money related scandals, NOT
the party's grand design.
That makes some sense. People can be very stupid and still do some things right.
I think it was Winston Churchill who said, "Wisdom is knowing that even fools can be right sometimes."
At any rate, LDP, DPJ…whatever…in the end it may be the business leaders who actually run the country.
We'll see.
