Toyota NOT Slacking Off in the United States

by BBelew57 on June 22nd, 2007

A Toyota Motor Corp. executive says the auto maker is NOT backing off, changing course, trying to slow down its expansion in the North America market.

Why should it?  To give GM, Ford and DaimlerChrysler more time to recover?

That would make a lot of sense…but to whom?

Toyota is expected to be "bullish on the U.S. market and will keep adding manufacturing capacity in the region as demand grows," said the executive.

Meanwhile...the top man of Toyota's North American operations, Jim Press, got the go-ahead at the annual shareholders meeting at Toyota headquarters to become the first non-Japanese member of the automaker's board of directors.jim.press.jpg

Press has led Toyota's rapid sales climb from a 9.3 per cent market share in the U.S. in 2000 to 13.1 per cent in 2005.

Press "drives a Toyota pickup and relaxes

by competing in triathlons."

People relax AFTER competing in triathlons…certainly NOT by doing them.
