Takeru Kobayashi - Don’t Make Me Laugh, My Mouth Hurts
Takeru 'Tsunami' Kobayashi is not in a laughing mood.
When it was suggested by some ESPN host who, no doubt, couldn't eat his way out of wet Krystal Hamburger bag, that he is sandbagging it, that his complaints about his mouth hurting are a ploy to get chief American challenge, Joey Chestnut, to be more complacent, the Nathan's Hot Dog Eating Champion responded, "That's not even funny. "I don't even have time to think about that."
As a result fo misaligned wisdom teeth and his competitive eating career, the 29-year old eating machine says he has developed painful arthritis in his jaw.
Right now, he can only open his mouth the width of two of his fingers. That's two
of his 5'7" 165lb-framed fingers, NOT two sumo-sized fingers…about the same as a hot god.
There are stiill five days till the Nathans. Tsunami
is exercising and learning to relax the muscles in his jaws, hoping he will recover enough to participate on July 4th.
That's just five days away.
Who will you be rooting for on America's 4th of July, the American or the Japanese?
