
A senior vice president and market director for NTT DoCoMo just finished a presentation at TiECon 2007.
He shared with the group NTT DoCoMo's secret to success with its i-mode phone. It also gives an excellent insight into the way Japanese do things.
He called it the VALUE CHAIN and emphasis was placed on totally integrated chain coordination.
The six areas -
1. Content - High quality content
2. Marketing - effective marking coordination
3. Business model - attractive business model![]()
4. Server - useful gateway servers
5. Network - stable packet network
6. Handset - good user interface
No one area was/is given more emphasis than the other five but inasmuch as possible, complete integration of the six. A good handset means nothing if there is no quality content. Excellent content means nothing if no one knows about it...and so on.
At this entrepreneur conference many have ideas that focus on one area of the above...the key to success, says DoCoMo is being able to show how it will fit in the big picture.
