Cyberbullying in Japan
A net crime expert in Japan says, "There's not a school teacher in the country who specializes in information technology education. (They) are petrified of the day they're ordered to teach information technology classes.
And the kids know it….as do Japan's police.
Last year the National Police Agency received 8,037 reported cases of online slander or defamation….UP…39%.
57 cases developed into criminal cases and arrests were made.
The "underground school sites" are set up apart from any school's official home page. ![]()
Kids being kids…instead of swapping info about exams and studies, they create abusive posts and offensive material about other students. Cell phone numbers, addresses and such are free game.
The online forums become a place for the bullies/cowards to flourish and kids who are not strong enough emotionally to ignore the nonsense to suffer.
And the teachers…are no help at all.
What can be done to stop cyberbullying?
