YouTube Keeps Traditional Broadcasters Trawling
Japanese are the biggest users of Youtube. The Japanese, indeed, love Youtube, and Youtube and their new owner Google loves the Japanese.
After all, it would make a huge difference to Google and Youtube if Japan's 10 million visitors decided to go elsewhere, no?
Google's Japanese site needed 51 months to reach 10 million Japanese and Wikipedia needed 60 months. It took just 14 months to reach that milestone for Youtube. Hmmm….
Last year, 23 Japanese rights owner groups requested and were appeased when Youtube deleted some 30,000 illegal uploads.![]()
I wonder how many hits Youtube got while those groups searched for those uploads?
At any rate…major broadcasters now trawl through the huge pool of YouTube clips to find illegal uploads on the website. Youtube, no doubt, enjoys the traffic.
What was it someone said about Henry Ford? We can't decide if things are better or worse for him having invented the car…but we do know that Ford did not leave things the way he found them.
Youtube has not left things the way they found them in Japan, either?
