Kodansha Ltd., publisher of the Shukan Gendai, accused Japan's top ranked wrestler, Asashoryu, of fixing matches.
The JSA doesn't like being pushed around...that's their job. Consequently, the Sumo bunch will sue the publisher for defamation and demand an apology.
JSA's internal investigation determined that the matches were not rigged. They asked the wrestler and everyone he beat - "Did you cheat?" They grunted "no."
Lot of credibility there..but anyway.
The JSA lawyer said, "We could have let this go but this kind of problem comes up once every few years. If you don't take any action these kind of reports will only increase."
The publisher is standing by their author.
This match and its result surely has not been rigged.
One thing is certain...Sumo will be happy for the attention that it is getting.
What do you think?
