Japan to Show America How to Build Houses, too?
As if showing America how to build cars and put parts in them is not enough.
A Japanese company, Itochu Corp., is preparing to show America how to supply building materials for homes.
The trading company is Japan's largest in terms of the amount of wood it imports. Itochu also owns the largest construction material wholesaler in Japan.
Itochu purchased California-based flooring distributor, Gallaher Inc., the tenth largest in the U.S. ![]()
Itochu owns Prime Source Building Products Inc. a major screw and nail wholesaler.
By also upgrading and then expanding its wood-processing subsidiaries in Washington State and Vancouver, Canada, Itochu aims to expand its North American construction business to over $2 billion…catapulting it to number 3 in the market.
If Itochu can do business like Japan's car companies, Toyota, Honda, Nissan…American building material suppliers will be in a heap of hurt.
America is always building or remodeling.
What do you think?
